god, you’re such a bad feminist
for this project williams looks at her personal relationship with feminism and the paranoia that she isn’t a good enough feminist. the project looks at themes of female sexuality and beauty standards, ranging from public spaces to private ones, exploring the pressures she feels from certain feminist views and those of the patriarchal society. the work has been described as ‘nauseating erotica’, it aims to make the audience uncomfortable while simultaneously reminding them of sex - to do this williams uses the mouth and close up images of fruits to depict suggestive situations. the project began to develop after williams started to explore her position with in her romantic relationship and how that complicated the way she feels about her feminism, realising that her insecurities in regard to this were deeper that her interactions with men. through this work williams has become to understand the unnecessary paranoia she feels about not being good enough and hopes that the work can help other women who have the same feelings can use this project as an opportunity to discuss them with others and realise they are not the only one that feels this way.
