in a practice that explores intimacies and makes the personal public, williams investigates themes of relationships, sexuality and the body and, in her on going project, how chronic pain impacts them. through her practice Williams is learning to identify her own positioning and explore how women are forced to exist by the world around them. by approaching the aspects that make her feel ashamed or ‘broken’, bodies of work are created to question and protest what has been accepted as the norm, taking the uncomfortableness she has been made to feel and imposes it onto viewers. over the last year williams has been investigating menstruation and her relationship with it, in a project that has pushed her own boundaries her practice has developed into a multidisciplinary one experimenting with performance, video and lens-based techniques to translate the complexities that come with trying to tackle one's own experiences.
